03 About BIM Crafter

Trained by a team that ships real models.

BIM Crafter is a Building Information Modeling consultancy and training academy. Our people deliver high-precision modeling, clash detection and construction coordination on live projects, and that same work is what you train on.

There is a gap between what colleges teach and what AEC firms expect on day one. Our dual-phase programme closes it: 3 months of rigorous software lab work, then 6 months beside experienced BIM leads on live consultant drawing sets. You leave with a portfolio, a verified experience letter, and the confidence of someone who has already done the job.

Twelve weeks, week by week.

Every week ends with a modeling exercise on a real dataset. Pick your stream, then step through the syllabus.

Eligibility: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical or CivilAutoCAD 2D · Revit MEP · Navisworks

Month 1 · AutoCAD standards & Revit MEP fundamentals

  2. Introduction to BIM, 2D CAD vs 3D parametric BIM, LOD 100–300 definitions. Revit UI, project browser, levels, grids, linking architectural background models and shared coordinates.

  3. HVAC supply, return and exhaust systems. Creating mechanical spaces, assigning CFM airflow values, routing rectangular, round and flexible ductwork; inserting volume dampers, fire dampers and diffusers.

  4. Chilled water supply/return pipe routing. Placing AHUs, FCUs, chillers, pumps and inline exhaust fans, plus duct lining and pipe insulation.

Month 2 · Plumbing, fire protection & electrical

  1. Domestic cold and hot water routing (PPR, CPVC). True gravity-slope drainage modeling, soil and waste stacks, vent pipes, floor traps, cleanouts and sanitary fixture connections.

  2. NFPA standards overview, wet sprinkler vs dry risers. Pendant, upright and sidewall sprinkler heads; main fire headers, branch lines, zone control valves and Fire Department Connections.

  3. Interior and exterior lighting, switches, power receptacles and floor boxes. Connecting fixtures into circuits, assigning Distribution Boards and building panel schedules.

  4. Perforated, ladder and wire-mesh cable trays. Conduits for low-voltage (CCTV, data, fire alarm) and high-voltage power. Main switchboards, transformers and UPS racks.

Month 3 · Families, clash audit & documentation

  1. Family templates, reference planes, extrusions, revolves and sweeps. Custom valves, diffusers and equipment with discipline connectors and parameter-driven dimensions.

  2. Exporting NWC models and running Clash Detective: hard clashes (ducts vs beams) and clearance checks (pipes vs cable trays). Viewpoints, clash grouping and HTML/PDF clash reports.

  3. Sheet composition, title blocks, invert elevations (BOD/TOD), tagging, section details and automated take-offs: duct surface area, pipe length and fixture counts.

  4. Full 3D MEP model of a multi-storey commercial hospital, clash clearing against structure and submission of coordinated drawings for evaluation.

INTERNSHIP · MEP TRACK

Work as a junior MEP BIM Modeler on active international commercial and hospital projects: 2D to 3D conversion, builders-work openings and sleeve generation, shop drawing revisions and clash resolution, with verified experience credentials.

SHEET A-007
07 Clash Lab · Week 10 preview

Run a real clash test, right here.

This is a Level 03 corridor ceiling section with ductwork, chilled water, sprinklers and cable tray squeezed under a concrete beam. Set a clearance tolerance, run Clash Detective, then resolve the clashes the way a coordinator would.

Clash DetectiveSelection TreeViewpoints Test 01 · MEP vs STR + ARCH No results yet
RESULTS · click a row to zoom0 clashes
Run the test to generate a clash report.

    Test settings

    TRY THIS

Run the test at 50 mm, then drag the tolerance to 100 mm and watch new clearance issues appear. Hit Resolve all to reroute the services.

    HARD CLASH

Two objects occupy the same space

A duct driven straight through a beam. On site that means a cut, a delay and a change order. In BIM it costs one reroute.

    CLEARANCE CLASH

Too close to install or maintain

Pipes need room for insulation, hangers and spanners. Tolerances catch what looks fine on screen but fails in the ceiling void.

    RESOLUTION

    Reroute, resize, re-run

Coordinators group clashes, assign them, fix models in Revit and re-test until the report is clean. You will do this weekly in your internship.
